ALX Community Recognized by New York-Based Business Publication, Inc., for Its Philanthropic Efforts

ALX Community, the co-working space founded five years ago with three locations in Old Town, has been named to this year’s Best in Business list of the business-media brand Inc. Inc. magazine is based in New York City.

ALX Community is in the Small and Mighty category. It was chosen because of its practice of giving back to the surrounding community. Initiatives created by the company also help meet the needs of residents. ALX Community also leads charitable giving projects, inspired by the passion of its staff and membership.

“When we founded ALX Community back in 2018, we started with very little, but I knew we wanted our ‘community’ to reach beyond our shared office walls,” said Kelly Grant, Chief Operating Officer of ALX Community. “The positive impact that our collective efforts have made has far surpassed anything we could have imagined, truly making ALX Community more than a workplace.”

“Being named to the Best in Business list is a rare and special honor,” said Eric Hogerman, Special Projects Editor at Inc. “These honorees demonstrate the foresight, caring, and dedication to prioritize positive impact—impact on their community, on their industry and the environment, and even on society as a whole.”

Of the 19 companies in the DMV to be recognized ALX Community is the sole business in this city to earn selection

The magazine issue with the full list of honorees appears on newsstands Dec.12. Editors selected honorees by studying their achievements over the past year and considering how each has made a difference.

Earlier this year, ALX Community received the Business of the Year award from the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. In its brief history, the company has made a lasting impact in Alexandria by donating food to combat food insecurity, giving toys to children who are victims of domestic violence, paying for mammograms for women without health coverage, and sponsoring college scholarships to Alexandria City High School students.
