A food hall and coworking space that was slated to anchor a new residential building in the Hoffman Town Center neighborhood of Alexandria has been scrapped from the project, the Washington Business Journal has learned.
The ALX Community-branded coworking space and 12-vendor food hall were both the provenance of a team led by Alexandria entrepreneur Scott Shaw. Shaw and partners Kelly Grant and Andrew Galbraith announced the plans to open the food hall at 200 Stovall St., now called The Foundry, in May 2019.
The 12,000-square-foot food hall was to be complemented by an ALX Community venue on the other side of the building’s lobby. But the building delivered in March — the apartments are now more than 40% leased — and landlords Perseus TDC and Four Points are actively looking for retail tenants.
