‘Tis the Season: Giving Back with ALX Community

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, when we reflect on what we’re thankful for and continue to share our social mission of giving back to our community while encouraging others to do the same. Recently, we were humbled to play a role in Arlington Food Assistance Center‘s annual food drive, and help to provide 2,400 Arlington families and individuals with access to nutritious groceries.

Look at that haul!

Now, we’re kicking off two more holiday giving initiatives, and we want you to join us! First, ALX Community has partnered with the Domestic Violence Program Shelter on a holiday drive for families who have been victims of domestic and sexual violence. We’ll be hosting a fun tree-trimming event of the “Angel Tree” on Monday, November 29 at 5:30pm in the lobby of Founders Hall, located at 106 N Lee Street in Old Town.

Help us trim the Angel Tree on Monday, November 29!

Each “ornament” that decorates the Angel Tree is adorned with a QR code that can be scanned via smartphone to unveil a specific wish list item. Help us meet the shelter’s goal of collecting 100 gifts for children and 100 gift cards for adult survivors (for gift cards, please visit this page for specific stores and drop-off location). Donations run through December 12, and can be dropped off under the tree or mailed to ALX Community, 201 N Union Street, Suite 110, Alexandria, VA, 22314. Please help to make the holiday season a little bit brighter for survivors and their children.

Last but certainly not least, we’re partnering with Old Town Community Church to collect warm winter socks and diapers. There will be a drop-off bin in the lobby of ALX Community’s new space at the Atrium building, located at 277 S Washington Street in Old Town, starting December 1. For further information, please contact Brian Hoysa at bhoysa@oldtown.cc.

From all of us at ALX Community, thank you for joining us in caring for the community we love so much.
